Speech to Vancouver Area UFO Club – March 14, 1961

Smith, himself, summarized his activities in a speech to the Vancouver Area UFO Club in 1961. He claimed to have communicated with extraterrestrial people, and his archived correspondence and public presentations describe much information of a technical and scientific nature inspired by the people “topside”. The archive was originally compiled by Arthur Bray and is kept at the University of Ottawa library in Ottawa, Canada.

I might point out that the Project Magnet that I was associated with, which received a great deal of publicity, was not an official Government project. It was a project that I talked the Deputy Minister into letting me carry out, making use of the extensive field organization of the Department of Transport. No funds were spent on it and we merely had access to a very large field organization and opened a number of files. Unfortunately, the gentlemen of the press climbed on this and made a big deal out of it. As a matter of fact, some of the headlines concerning Project Magnet were set in larger type than the declaration of war. However, we carried the project through officially for about four years, and the last year of the four we had a little shed set up in which we had a number of instruments, the idea being to try and coordinate sightings with scientific measurements. We had equipment for detecting any radio noise that might emanate from these objects, any gravitational disturbances which might result, any radioactivity which might be connected with it, and any magnetic disturbances. These four instruments were of a recording type, and produced graphical lines on a recording tape in a four-pen recorder. This ran 24 hours a day with an alarm circuit attached, so that in case any of the pens would go beyond a prescribed threshold, the horns would blow and the bells would ring and the boys in the nearby ionosphere station were supposed to come running to see if they could see anything. Wilbert B. Smith was a Canadian government scientist/engineer who was interested in the flying saucer phenomenon from the early 1950s until his passing in 1962.

He claimed to have communicated with extraterrestrial people via several means including radio communication, “tensor beam”, and indirectly through channeling by others. His archived correspondence and public presentations describe much information of a technical and scientific nature inspired by the people “topside”. The basis for the new revealed science is presented in his posthumously published online book The New Science.

The space people dropped hints to him about the fundamentals of their science but expected him to work things out for himself. He felt strongly that the knowledge about critical technologies like gravity control should not be generally accessible until the time was right. When Helen and I made our preparations to go to a UFO convention we felt it would be interesting to get as much direct information as we could from the Space Brothers, so when we contacted them we asked if there were any definite statements they had to give us. We received a lot of information from the M-4 Section on Mars and Helen presented it in her earlier comments (Part I), but we also contacted the Planet Venus and received much interesting information from a Venusian called Tregon. It all began when my sister, Betty, and I were in a downtown St. Louis coffee shop. We had been shopping and had stopped off to get a coke and refresh ourselves. While in the coffee shop we were approached in a very mannerly way by two gentlemen dressed in gray suits, who managed to interrupt into our private conversation. As they spoke to us we found that they were from a huge mother craft orbiting the planet Earth, and that their names were Elen and Zelas. They told us that we had been very closely watched by the Space People for the last eight years, and that our progress had been noted off and on from the time of our birth. Betty and I were both inclined to think that someone was playing a silly joke on us and we laughed when they told us this, but they were not laughing and were serious and stern. We were strangely shocked, however, when they told us of a few incidents in our childhood that no one could have possibly known except the family. They told us that we had been selected as contacts by the people of space to serve as channels through which they could give certain information to Earth, and that we had been carefully watched, as I stated before. I awoke suddenly, not knowing how long I had slept. I was completely awake – fresh and alert – but good God, what time could it be? Lina was sleeping beside me, her fists closed, but then Lina always sleeps…

I had no desire at all to go back to sleep and besides, it was possibly already five in the morning. I got up, made my way to the kitchen and checked the clock. Only 12.30 am! It was unusual for me to wake up at such an hour.

I took off my pajamas and dressed in trousers and a shirt, why, I had no idea. Neither can I explain why I went to my desk, took a sheet of paper and a biro (ball-point pen) and watched myself write, as if my hand had a mind of its own. (more…)

The following is an excerpt from an interview with David Paladin regarding his experience with space intelligences.

“For four consecutive nights in September 1961, my four-year-old son claimed that he was being visited by a ‘person’ named Itan who came into the house, awakened him and took him into a big ‘sky car’ which he claimed landed behind our house in the Granite Dells area of Prescott, Arizona. I paid little attention, believing it to be a childish fantasy. My attitude changed when my next door neighbor, a forest ranger, told me on the third morning that he had seen a flying saucer hovering over the area the night before. He also claimed to have seen my son, accompanied by a tall, thin man dressed in white overalls, walking toward a strange greenish light in the rocky area behind our house. “The Guides say that although space beings have visited earth for millennia, they are now “rushing in as seldom before to awaken earthlings and help them to realize that their destruction is imminent” unless better ways are developed to settle disputes between peoples. “They are aghast at the direction that planet earth and its people have taken in the last few decades,” the Guides continued, “including nuclear weapons threats against other nations and curtailment of human freedom.”

My Guides have repeatedly stressed that spaceships are non-essential for the conveyance of spacelings to earth. These highly developed entities, they insist, are able to reassemble the atoms of their bodies within our atmosphere so that they become visible, physical beings, and can as easily disassemble the atoms when they wish to disappear. Ancient Astronaut theorists maintain that Star People have been visiting Earth since the beginning of time. To support their claims, they often portray the legends of American Indian tribes as proof of human interaction with the Star People. There are also many stories of UFO encounters, crashes, and extraterrestrials by adventurers, cowboys, military men, and miners in the Northern Plains.

One of the more famous cases occurred in Montana and was reported in the St. Louis Democrat and in newspapers throughout the country. According to the article, on October 19, 1865, James Lumley, a Montana fur trapper, was about 175 miles above the Upper Missouri in what is now Great Falls, Montana. On his way to camp after a day of trapping, he saw a “bright luminous body in the heavens.” As it flew, it burst into flames and exploded. Shortly thereafter, a strong wind swept through the forest like a tornado. The air smelled like sulfur. The next day, Lumley decided to investigate and came upon a path through the forest “several rods wide.” At the end of the path, he discovered an object embedded in the side of the mountain. (more…)

Between seven and eight thousand space fans gathered at Giant Rock Airport, Yucca Valley, California, for the Third Annual Spacecraft Convention on Saturday and Sunday, April 28 and 29, 1956.

The campers began to arrive as early as Friday afternoon, by trailer, car and truck, but most of the crowd turned their cars off the main highway in the early Saturday morning hours and jogged over the sandy spurs that led to the remote airport. (more…)

Further Communication

It was not until April 1954 that Alan once again reestablished communications with Daniel Fry. At the time, Fry was relaxing in his retreat, deep in the woods of southern Oregon. As before, Alan was not present in person, but his voice was unmistakable. No device was used on this occasion; instead, communication was supposedly achieved directly via ‘electronically boosted telepathy’.

Alan began by admonishing Fry for not having spoken publicly about his experience. Fry replied that, in the first place, he was afraid that any report by him might endanger Alan’s proposed visit to Earth; secondly, he was unknown, apart from within the rocket industry.
